The Tate's mission is to increase the public’s enjoyment and understanding of British art from the 16th century to the present day and of international modern and contemporary art. The museums wants to celebrate the art of the past and present in its complexity and diversity, supporting artistic risktaking and deep scholarship. This will be shared with all of the Tate's audiences: via the buildings, in the touring exhibitions, through loaned works and across digital platforms.
